The assessment analyzed sets of thematic areas around women and youth to inform the findings generated in the quality, relevance and effectiveness sections of each investment covered in this report. The analysis focused on the extent to which the SSF’s GESI investment contributed to GESI responsiveness resulting to positive and negative outcomes in the following thematic areas. The Life & Peace Institute (LPI) in partnership with Somali Women’s Solidarity Organization (SWSO) and Somali Women’s Studies Centre (SWSC) implemented the SSF GESI investment titled: Building and strengthening female public and political engagement, agency, and influence in Jubaland. The project activities were implemented in four districts (Kismayo, Dobley, Garbaharey and Dollow) with the broader goal of improving participatory governance and a focus on inclusion of women and youth in political processes. The program has three output areas that contribute to the overarching objective of “Enhanced popular participation in governance, particularly for women and excluded communities,” namely;
Output 1: Targeted women, including women from Traditionally Marginalized Groups (TMGs) have improved their skills and knowledge on identified areas.
Output 2: Targeted young women and men from across social and geographic divides are active in decision-making processes and are championing women’s participation and representation in peace building and decision-making processes.
Output 3: Identified local and district level actors are able to communicate the importance of women’s role in peace building, governance and decision-making.
